Admission Form Details
Read through the admission, scholarship and department details thoroughly.
STEP 1: Get registered on the admissions website HERE.
Create a valid account with your original CNIC/B-Form and email.
Tip: You should have a professionally named email by now. Having a proper email instead of something like [email protected] will go a long way.
STEP 2: Complete the application form and submit
Tip: Always read the instructions given on the right side of the application. In case of any errors in the admission form after submission, contact [email protected]. Phone no. 0938-281026 Ext: 2301, 2354, 2342, 2530
STEP 3: Payment to HBL
TIP: Always make the payment to the bank details given on the admissions website and the amount as written on the bank challan. For safe practices, we have omitted giving out the bank details here, and you should be skeptical of the bank details from any 3rd party as well. Always keep a photocopy of every monetary transaction you make.

TIP: By experience, the GIK test is more oriented to test core concepts. Math and Physics questions will be multiple choice problems due to which the weightage for each question is of 3 points. The test integrates concepts of mathematics and physics into the same section. Practice hard and find smart ways to attempt the questions to save yourself time during the test.

BS in Chemical Engineering
Types of industries: Food, pharmaceutical, medicine, petroleum, environment, polymers, fertilizers, micro-electronics, bio-technology.
Responsibilities in an industry: Quality, production, process, safety, health and environment management. Optimization of key processes.
Specific roles: Analytical chemist, production manager, energy manager, materials engineer, mining engineer, process engineer and others.
Skills needed: Comfortable with mathematics, strong conceptual knowledge, analytical skills. Planning, organizing and managing skills to handle budgets and people.
Industry leaders: Exxon Mobil, BASF, DOW chemical, Unilever, P&G, RB, Nestle, Schlumberger, Shell, Engro.
BS in Computer Engineering
Types of industries: Telecommunications, manufacturing, product development, robotics, cybersecurity, healthcare, technology.
Responsibilities in an industry: Writing software and firmware for embedded microcontrollers, designing VLSI chips, designing analog sensors, designing mixed signal circuit boards, and designing operating systems. Analyzing computer equipment; troubleshooting hardware architecture.
Specific roles: Hardware engineer and software engineer.
Skills needed: Project management, logic sense, critical thinking, time management and organization, interpersonal, and communication skills. Computer programming, mathematics, networking, computing theory, design and management skills.

Specific roles: Radio frequency electronics engineer, electornics manufacturing engineer, control systems engineer. product development engineer.

BS in Electrical Engineering (Power)
Types of industries: Power sector, renewables, power generating unit, FMCGs and IT.
Responsibilities in an industry: Instrumentation and control systems. Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components; soliciting observations from operators.
Specific roles: Process design

Responsibilities in an industry: research, develop, and design new materials, devices, sensors, and processes for a diverse range of applications.
Specific roles: Interdisciplinary roles such as Electronic Engineer, Semiconductor Engineer. Can move into physics and software engineer roles as well.

BS in Materials Engineering (Manufacturing)
Types of industries: Metallurgy, ceramic, alloys, steel mills, high performance materials.

Specific roles: Supply engineers, quality assurance engineers, inspection and maintenance engineers, safety engineers and corrosion engineers.
Skills needed: Basic engineering knowledge, quick learner and command on mathematics.

BS in Materials Engineering (Nano Technology)
Types of industries: Coatings and thin films, car manufacturing, materials design, medical and biotech.
Responsibilities in an industry: Set up and execute experiments according to detailed instructions. compile information and prepare reports. Record test results in logs, laboratory notebooks, or spreadsheet software. Produce detailed images or measurement of objects, using tools such as scanning tunneling microscopes or oscilloscopes. Perform functional tests of nano-enhanced assemblies, components, or systems, using equipment such as torque gauges or conductivity meters. Operate computer-controlled machine tools

Responsibilities in an industry: P&IDs, datasheets, cause and effects, calculations, machining and drilling process awareness, ASME knowledge, preventive maintenance, quality assurance.
Specific roles: Process systems engineer, reliability engineer, control and automation engineer, mechanical/piping engineer, mechanical field engineer
Skills needed: negotiation skills, contract management, planning and commissioning abilities, financial management, basic accounting skills, troubleshooting.

TIP: There are opportunities all over the world and in Pakistan. Even if there are no market leaders current in Pakistan, there are good companies none-the-less in the country where GIKians are preferred, Other career paths after an undergraduate in engineering involve:
- Masters in Bachelors leading to entrepreneurship, trade marketing, business
- Research and development
- Academia such as research associate or a professor at an institution.

- How do I recover my forgotten password for my admissions account?
To recover your forgotten password, contact GIK administration on the number and email provided above in the admission form details. For safe practice, always write your account details on a piece of paper and keep it in your wallet or purse. - How do I change an incorrect piece of information after I have submitted my form?
You may also contact the GIK administration on the number and email provided above in the admission form details however due to the bulk of application, it will be unlikely that the query will be solved immediately. Always use the help box on the lower right corner of your application to resolve your queries before you submit your application.The Contact Us feature on the lower right corner of the browser
- Why can I not see all the program choices?
You will not be able to see the program details if you do not meet the criteria or if you are continuing your applications after another session then click save and continue from the HSSC/ALEVEL/EQUIV tab to move onto program choices to view all the options. - How will I be allocated to my program?
Your allocation to your preferred program choice will be based upon your merit ranking and your order of preference for the specific degree program. If you are confused on which degree program to choose then do look at what you are interested in and do your research online. It is not recommended to fall under peer pressure, family pressure or opinions from uninformed peers. GIK is a highly competitive institute and if you do not have an interest in the degree program then it will be very hard to perform. - What is the annual fees structure for undergraduate studies at GIK?
