Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) Islamabad was established on March 21, 2013, with the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) as its constituent hospital. The programs offered at SZABMU include Medicine, Surgery, and Dentistry, as well as M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs in twelve disciplines of Basic Medical Science. The university also offers the MBBS degree at its constituent college, the Federal Medical & Dental College in Islamabad.
The university has also a College of Nursing, a School of Nursing, and a College of Medical Technology, where graduate courses are offered.
